Alexandra spent her summer studying abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark. There she studied the seaweed farming industry, learning about its effects on the global food market. On campus, she has been involved with a research lab for analyzing large datasets with various programming tools as well as mentoring other students in the lab. In her free time, she enjoys exploring new running trails, baking cinnamon rolls, and following Formula 1 races.

Leo spent his summer conducting cardiology research at UT Southwestern while also working as a bartender. On campus, he is also a member of ABSA C-Team and AED. In his free time, he enjoys playing volleyball, tennis, and golf. Looking ahead, Leo hopes to merge his passions for business and medicine, exploring opportunities in healthcare administration or medical consulting.

Last summer, Aanya studied abroad in Spain and gained research experience working in drug development on biodegradable implants. On campus, Aanya is a learning assistant for Organic Chemistry and actively participates in several student organizations. Outside of academics, she enjoys hiking, pottery, pilates, and exploring Austin with friends. This semester, she’s excited to take on a new challenge by learning tennis.

Zach spent his summer interning in Dallas with a nonprofit that shuts down cartel run drug houses. On campus, he’s involved as an oarsman for the rowing team, as president for TableTalk, a weekly forum that explores current issues, and as a student representative for the Annette Strauss Institute for Civic Life. He loves running in the cold, reading in the sun, and learning about seemingly random things (like triangles, mollusks, and brain computer interfaces) — especially when they’re actually not.

Aarya is currently studying at UT Austin after spending 8 years abroad, splitting time between Singapore and Japan. On campus, he is involved in the Walker Fellowship, a civic engagement and community service organization along with teaching with TASSEL, an organization teaching Cambodian students English. He is also an avid listener of the Freakonomics podcast among other economics/policy-related media. Outside of class, Aarya enjoys watching any sport he can get his hands on, trying new restaurants near campus, and doing the New York Times crossword puzzle.

Shaan spent his summer working at a civil law firm, covering Texas Supreme Court opinions and studying litigation trends. During the school year, Shaan volunteers for Reading Aces, reading stories to underserved elementary students. In his free time, he practices Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, lifts weights, and does visual art, whether it be sculpting, painting, or drawing. Beyond that, he enjoys pursuing disparate intellectual interests, ranging from graphic design and material science to behavioral economics, paleontology, and blacksmithing to name a few.
